they all leak eventually....here's the backdrop video from the sticky and sweet tour for yes...you guessed it...'she's not me'.  some people bitch about the fact that madonna tries to throw away all her old incarnations and disregard the fact that every single one of them helped get her where she is today but i think when you've been in the business for as long as she has and pretty much stayed on top the whole way...you'd be pretty sick of images of your past as well....this was an interesting part of the show climaxing with a 'let it will be' style insane asylum dance as she stripped off her shorts and stuff and went mad like only madonna can!  enjoy!

so i had to upload this track for a friend of mine who heard it on thursday night when i played it so i figured i'd share it with the rest of you as well.  it's a typically nasty track from the martin brothers that is the perfect segue song when the party is about to become a full on party!  check it out!

Hip Hop Last month we wrote about Zydeco in this issue of Genre Buzz we dig deep into the roots of Hip Hop: Hip Hop has a dynamic history and is an art form that includes deejaying (cuttin’ & scratchin’), emceeing/rappin’, dancing and street art (aka graffiti). The first Dance Parade featured DJ Kool Herc, who some refer to as the 'Founder of Hip-Hop.' The history of hip hop dance started with breakdancing, which has its roots as a Jamaican-influenced form, born in the South Bronx (New York City). Breaking complimented the music and was a form of dance that was used by street gangs to settle differences without using violence; a positive form of expression for inner-city youths. From breakdancing to the moonwalk, from krumping to Bboy to plain ‘ol head nodding everyone has their own way of expressing love for this dynamic and popular form of dance dance. Hip Hop is now global. Owned by the world, hip hop dance continues to evolve on five continents. Influenced by a global medly of Arab, Christian, French, Latino/a, or Southern flavors hip hop thrives because of its inherent contemporary nature. Look for hip hop dancers towards the rear of this year's parade, as groups dance down the streets in the order in which each genre was birthed. There are seven Hip-Hop groups signed up so far: The Riis Settlement, Team Dynasty, YWCA of the City of New York, World Class Dancers, DJ Soul Heaven, DJ Dennis Williams, PDM Performing Arts Corp, and Flo Dance Team . so i just stumbled upon this website that offers a service that completely blew my mind!  i have a lot of musician friends and am an aspiring musician myself and am so excited to let them know about this site.  i'm sure not many people even knew this was possible.

it is certainly the future of songwriting and an almost magical way of making your composition come to life without the burden of hiring a complete orchestra, renting the equipment and renting the space and studio.  this service does it all for you!  images of a bladerunner future flow through my mind while tucked away in a small studio apartment in one of those grim, gotham monolithic buildings a young musical prodigy scribbles on his notebook the notes to his budding symphony.  later on, he would empty the contents of his creation into the hands of this service and almost magically he or she would get in return his musical dream fulfilled.

i didn't even know this was possible until i read just the opening lines of the website.  check it out here 

they offer free price quotes and have a simple and wonderful mission statement.  they really would like all musicians without access to a live orchestra to have the opportunity to hear their music the way it was meant to be heard.  they also want to promote the use of real instruments if they are accessible and don't want to attempt to pursuade people who have that access to use their service instead.  sounds like this is the real deal and was most likely created by actual musicians to help other members of the musical community rather than a marketing ploy to take advantage of those musicians out there without the funds and connections that other musicians may have.  

if you are a musician or know someone who is, i definitely hope that you will share this site with them!

so i reviewed some of my tweets last night and thought i would share what the pieces of the puzzle created

chauncey predicts ~ the song of spring!

i predict this song will be one the underdog hits of the spring!  it is a gorgeous and eloquently crafted song by fever ray (a side project featuring the lead singer karen from the knife who is most known for her voice featured on royksopp's 'what else is there?') that should be at the forefront of pop music today but it may be much better if it stays in our pocket instead.  i picture myself at the front of a boat listening to this remix by lissvik while the sea salted wind blows in my face and a sandy, rock scorned beach lies up ahead where i can immerse myself in solace. (god..where did that description come from? haha)
 i'll definitely be playing it at my gigs...hopefully you will enjoy it in your digital music player as well...click on the photo and enjoy!
