blast at boysroom last night!

so after a couple of weeks of promoting my fingers off and hoping that my new gig at the boysroom would become successful...especially after the let go from the 'other' place...finally a really busy night filled with boys boogeying, faggots prancing (and i use that word lovingly of course) and the bartender all smiles. the night looked promising because my friend bret was inviting a bunch of friends to celebrate his birthday...but then at a certain point i looked up and a whole slew of people started walking in and immediately went towards the back to join in the dance party. my friend kenny got onto the little stage across from the dj booth and did his trademark dancing while my sister mel (aka velocity dandridge) popped by and tore up the floor gyrating and doing runway for all to gawk at. also, the kiki twins consisting of ashlee and elle t showed up (nyc new celebrities so to speak www.myspace.com/thekikitwins) and that made me happy especially because they were riling up the crowd and approved of my sounds. also...i guess i was on a high last night because i got a phone call from housing works about a job i applied for. i worked for them almost ten years ago and would kill to get a chance to work for them again. there is a position for assistant manager in the chelsea location and the new brooklyn location and i just called and had a great talk with the regional manager resulting in an interview set up for friday evening! i am so excited.
also what i learned last night finally is that i can give in to the hip hop genre that everyone annoyingly requests (especially little young bastards or their underage fag hags) from time to time but splice into it my trademark electro and nasty beats. honestly i do like some hip hop or hip pop as it should be called but i hate it when all people want to hear is what they hear everywhere else and on the radio. djs used to be teachers or prophets but in the day and age of ipods and downloading...everyone wants to hear what they feel like hearing and don't care about all the work i or others like me put into discovering new shit and offering it to them. i know the dj usually has an ego and i'm no different but i'm getting paid to be a dj not a jukebox. last night i realized that i can lure people in with what they know and them slam them with something hot and fresh that they never heard before but keeps them up and moving. it took me how long to figure this out? hehehe
hopefully word gets out and next week will be busy as well..and i will actually have a really fun, successful and interesting tuesday night party going on...woo hoo

good music still thrives

nelly furtado's recent single 'say it right' is actually doing well in the us...it's a little hope that the sad scenario of hip hop dominating with producer of the moment beats and rehashed lyrics and samples might be eventually coming to a close. of course she did enlist timbaland to produce the album but he created a lush soundscape for this song. because of her singing style i didn't really know what the song was about but i knew from the melody and the arrangement that it was poignant and i liked it. here's the lyrics which are astonishingly gorgeous along with a dirty sexy remix of the song by the dummies...enjoy "
"Say It Right"

In the day

In the night

Say it right

Say it all

You either got it

Or you don't
You either stand or you fall

When your will is broken

When it slips from your hand

When there's no time for joking

There's a hole in the plan

Oh you don't mean nothing at all to me

No you don't mean nothing at all to me

But you got what it takes to set me free

Oh you could mean everything to me

I can't say that
I'm not lost and at fault

I can't say that
I don't love the light and the dark

I can't say that I don't know that I am alive
And all of what I feel
I could show

You tonight you tonight

Oh you don't mean nothing at all to me
No you don't mean nothing at all to me

But you got what it takes to set me free
Oh you could mean everything to me

From my hands
I could give you

Something that I made

From my mouth
I could sing you another brick that I laid

From my body
I could show you a place God knows

You should know the space is holy

Do you really want to go?

madonna frozen live

this track finally surfaced after almost ten years recently...it's madonna's first live performance of 'frozen' from the east harlem violin project. her voice is in prime form and as usual...the goddess starts off softly and subtley in the beginning but then surely shines vocally as the song goes on belting out such beautiful notes and tones...this is one to make fans proud and detractors shrivel up and blow away...enjoy!

the klaxons - magick (simian mobile disco)
simian mobile disco is my new tiefschwarz i think...their production is definitely in the style that i am all into and shit right now hehe...their peers in my opinion would be lcd soundsystem/ dfa and maybe a little bit the glimmers and a little mstrkrft. what they did to this klaxons track is hot...sometimes noisy...sometimes minimal...i love it and it is definitely one of my new favs

krafty kuts - tell me how you feel (young punx mix)

Pope Fires New Broadside At Gay Families
by The Associated Press

Posted: January 27, 2007 - 4:00 pm ET

(Vatican City) Pope Benedict on Saturday reiterated his defense of the traditional family, saying real marriage can only be between a man and a woman.

Benedict's remarks to a Vatican tribunal were the latest by the pontiff on the issue as the Pope keeps up a campaign against unmarried couples and same-sex unions.

The Pope warned against what he said was a "cultural context marked by relativism" and against any views of marriage as merely a legal union "that human will could manipulate as it pleases, even depriving it of its heterosexual nature."

"Each marriage is certainly the fruit of free consent between man and woman," the Pope said in an audience at the Vatican marking the beginning of the judiciary year.

"The union occurs because of the design by God, who has created them male and female and gives them the power to unite those natural and complementary dimensions forever," he said.

The Pope went on to say the bond is indissoluble because "it is so in the design of creation."

The Vatican opposes divorce and other challenges to church doctrine that have become increasingly common in Europe and elsewhere.

It does allow annulment, a process by which the Church effectively declares that a marriage never took place, leaving faithful free to remarry and receive Communion.

In his remarks Saturday, the Pope appealed to the Roman Rota - the annulment-deciding tribunal - not to grant annulments too easily.

Circumstances for granting annulments include refusal by a husband or a wife to have children or the psychological incapability of one of the spouses to contract a valid marriage.

Benedict has condemned same-sex unions as anarchic "pseudo-matrimony," and has launched a campaign for the protection of families based on marriage between a man and a woman. The Vatican also has consistently criticized movements in Italy and other countries that call for granting legal rights to unmarried couples.

Last year, the Pontifical Council for the Family issued a document in which it said that the traditional family has never been so threatened as in today's world.

On Thursday, the Pope called for unity among Christian denominations to fight same-sex marriage. (story)

Clinton Stumps In Iowa
by The Associated Press

Posted: January 28, 2007 - 11:00 am ET

(Des Moines, Iowa) New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton blamed President Bush on Saturday for misusing authority given him by Congress to act in Iraq, but conceded "I take responsibility" for her role in allowing that to happen.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Clinton also said she would not cede black votes to Barack Obama and that she had proven as a U.S. senator that gender is irrelevant.

Of her husband, the former president, she said he would have a role in the campaign but "I'm the one running for president."

Clinton was making her first campaign swing through this early nominating state, which twice voted for Bill Clinton for president.

She met with key activists and held a raucous town hall meeting with 1,500 cheering backers and hundreds of journalists.

"I have said clearly and consistently for quite some time that I regret the way the president misused the authority," said Clinton. "He misled Congress and the country on what he was seeking and what he intended to do."

The responsibility Clinton said she accepts was helping clear the way for Bush's path in Iraq.

"I take responsibility for having voted to give him that authority," she said. "My focus is on what we do now. That is the proper debate."

Clinton said she expected to attract black votes even though Obama, the freshman Illinois senator, has caught fire. "I'm going to be asking for the votes of all Americans," she said.

Her husband will play a key role in her campaign, though she'll make it clear she's the candidate.

Election staff convicted in recount rig

By M.R. KROPKO Associated Press Writer
© 2007 The Associated Press

CLEVELAND — Two election workers were convicted Wednesday of rigging a recount of the 2004 presidential election to avoid a more thorough review in Ohio's most populous county.

Jacqueline Maiden, elections coordinator of the Cuyahoga County Elections Board, and ballot manager Kathleen Dreamer each were convicted of a felony count of negligent misconduct of an elections employee. They also were convicted of one misdemeanor count each of failure of elections employees to perform their duty.

Prosecutors accused Maiden and Dreamer of secretly reviewing preselected ballots before a public recount on Dec. 16, 2004. They worked behind closed doors for three days to pick ballots they knew would not cause discrepancies when checked by hand, prosecutors said.

Defense attorney Roger Synenberg has said the workers were following procedures as they understood them.

Ohio gave President Bush the electoral votes he needed to defeat Democratic Sen. John Kerry in the close election and hold on to the White House in 2004.

Special prosecutor Kevin Baxter did not claim the workers' actions affected the outcome of the election — Kerry gained 17 votes and Bush lost six in the county's recount.

Maiden and Dreamer, who still work for the elections board, face a possible sentence of six to 18 months for the felony conviction. Sentencing is on Feb. 26.

A message left for Elections Board Director Michael Vu was not immediately returned Wednesday. The board released a statement that said its goal is to restore confidence in the county's election progress and pursue reforms in addition to those made since 2004.

current crush - steve bacic

steve bacic
The name?

It's pronounced like the word basic - as easy as that.

i've become more than somewhat of a sci-fi channel geek as of late and just this morning i caught the first of a flurry of episodes of 'andromeda' and absolutely fell in love with telemachus rhade played by the hunky, beastly, heart palpitation inducing actor steve bacic. the show ain't bad either and even after finding out that he was voted 'most attractive actor in sci-fi' by fans i still cemented my crush on him. not since the cast of 'heroes' were unleashed on me recently have i anticipated each frame of a show a character was in. with heroes there are too many interestingly attractive and non conventional hotties...sometimes i even crush on the girls in that show ehhe. by the way...last nights episode was brilliant! an excellent way to start the new chapters...can't wait to see what hiro's sword will do!

steve bacic is not the typical tank top (in space?) wearing roughneck...he's got wit, manly handsomeness, burly brawn and a lovely mop of dark dark hair that i would love to grab while i go in for a nice, deep, long kiss...yikes lemme stop now ehhe

original poetry

silhouette

i just stayed put right where i was
flat on my back in the center of your bed
my arms folded behind my head
while you ran away to wash away
any evidence of what we just did
while i remained sweaty and sticky
marinating in the memory

then you came back
the outline of your silhouette
flickering in and out of the television candlelight
the doorway framing your body
perfectly...so perfectly

until you took your mask
and put it back on
and laid down on the other side of the bed
on the other side of the world
and i sat up and climbed up
out of the temporary paradise
picked up my things and moved
into the awful white light and
onto the cold blue tiles
hoping one day you'd ask me to stay
the whole night
