miss piggy detained at the border!
Swine Flu Outbreak: Miss Piggy Detained at U.S./Mexico Border
Noted entertainer Miss Piggy has been refused reentry into the United States as she attempted to return from a two week tour of nightclubs in Mexico City and Guadalajara. Following a deadly outbreak of swine flu in Mexico, border officers are under strict orders to turn away any boars or hogs coming over from the South without exception.
Public health concerns aside, the former Muppet Show star is furious. Through her spokesperson, she issued a formal complaint against the United States Border Patrol on Saturday, noting that beloved film actor Babe had been allowed to cross just the day before after a week-long bender in Tijuana. Fearing a public relations debacle, officials on both sides of the Rio Grande clarified that the order had not come down until shortly before Piggy's arrival. The explanation came with a personal note from Mexican President Felipe Calderon's asking her forgiveness for her continued treatment and to remind her that his proposal of marriage is still on the table.
According to some reports, border agents allowed her long-time boyfriend, a green bug-eyed frog, to cross into the United States, leaving Piggy abandoned at the roadside checkpoint as the lanky amphibian rode off on a remarkably realistic-looking bicycle. The incident, she says, is her most humiliating experience since losing the "best actress" Oscar to Sally Field in 1979.
Piggy will here remain in this holding facility until blood tests prove that she is not infected with, nor a carrier for, swine flu- a process that could take a couple of days or, considering the relative speed of the federal government, a couple of weeks. In the meantime, Piggy has asked her friend Janice and guest star Willie Nelson to water her plants until she gets back.
Piggy's AWOL boyfriend could not be reached for comment.
Sam the Eagle, a regular contributor to Fox News, tore into his former co-worker on the Sean Hannity program. When to comment on Piggy's confinement, Eagle doubted Piggy's patriotism, openly wondering what was she doing in Mexico in the first place when there are perfectly good nightclub venues right here in the U S of A. He went on to argue that, with more than a dozen assault charges on her record resulting from her notorious temper, Piggy should not be allowed to return even after she is medically cleared to do so.
"First they took our jobs," huffed Eagle. "Now with the help of lefty pinkos like Miss Piggy, they're exporting our diseases to Mexico, too! And Obama's CDC is just standing aside and letting it happen!" |

Created entirely by Stink Digital, this new interactive campaign promotes Philips latest entrant into the television market, the CINEMA 21:9. Since the televisions 21:9 frame lends itself so readily to film, our friends at Tribal DDB, Amsterdam commissioned us to create a piece of filmed content that could hold its own with Hollywoods best. Director Adam Berg responded with an idea for an epic frozen moment cops and robbers shootout sequence that included clowns, explosions, a decimated hospital, and plenty of broken glass and bullet casings.
This epic film is the centrepiece of the project. On its own, it clocks in at a (totally coincidental) two minutes and 19 seconds, but Berg conceived it to work as an endless loop. Visitors to the microsite therefore have the option to spin through the films single take shot repeatedly, to stop on a specific frame, or to watch it at the preordained speed. The film also contains embedded hotspots, which, when triggered, transport the viewer seamlessly from the heavily posted film to a behind-the-scenes version of the same shot. This constant moving between two layers of reality proved one of the projects biggest and most ambitious production challenges. Other details of the online execution play off the cinematic theme; the microsites loader doubles as a credit sequence, while rich media takeover banners drive traffic to the site by teasing viewers with an original Carousel trailer. All aspects of the production, from the film shoot to web design and development, were conducted by Stink Digital.

a letter from indictbushnow.org
Tide turns towards prosecution and investigation
Faced with overwhelming public demand,
Obama now says he is open to prosecution
Please click here to make a donation to help us keep up the momentum and support these efforts at this most important moment.
Under growing pressure from the people, President Obama has made a significant departure from the his position of last week that, "nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past." Just today he stated that the prosecution of those who authorized the sadistic torture tactics "is going to be more of a decision for the attorney general within the parameters of various laws and I don't want to prejudge that."
Events are starting to break quickly:
The New York Times on Sunday issued a major editorial, "The Torturers' Manifesto," that began, "To read the four newly released memos on prisoner interrogation written by George W. Bush’s Justice Department is to take a journey into depravity." The editorial continued:
"Until Americans and their leaders fully understand the rules the Bush administration concocted to justify such abuses and who set the rules and who approved them there is no hope of fixing a profoundly broken system of justice and ensuring that that these acts are never repeated....
"And if the administration will not conduct a thorough investigation of these issues, then Congress has a constitutional duty to hold the executive branch accountable. If that means putting Donald Rumsfeld and Alberto Gonzales on the stand, even Dick Cheney, we are sure Americans can handle it. "
This view is being echoed by both major newspapers and local publications all over the country. There is no stepping back now.
Today's front page of the New York Times has this headline: "Pressure Mounts on President Obama for a More Thorough Investigation." The article goes on to say that the release of the torture memos has "provoked a furor that continued to grow on Monday as critics on various fronts assailed his position."
Congressional officials have called for accountability. Diane Feinstein, chair of Senate Intelligence Committee has issued a letter to the Obama Administration requesting that it withhold decisions on prosecution until the Committee is able to conduct a thorough investigation.
Feeling the heat, Dick Cheney has taken a gamble and gone on television to state that more memos should be released. As New York Magazine wrote this morning, "The more the American public learns and thinks about all of this, the more it's going to ask for someone's head ..."
We have extraordinary momentum on our side right now and we must seize the moment to make indictment and prosecution a reality. We must use all available means including newspaper ads, organizing constituent pressure on Congress, and intensive media and outreach work. Please take action right now to support the efforts of IndictBushNow by clicking here to make a critically needed donation. We need your help.
Action steps:
2. Forward this Email
3. Get three friends to sign the indictment referendum by going to IndictBushNow.org
4. Write Your Newspaper
5. Contribute to this Campaign
Keep the pressure growing!

ravel virtual studios!
ravel virtual studios!
so i just stumbled upon this website that offers a service that completely blew my mind! i have a lot of musician friends and am an aspiring musician myself and am so excited to let them know about this site. i'm sure not many people even knew this was possible.
it is certainly the future of songwriting and an almost magical way of making your composition come to life without the burden of hiring a complete orchestra, renting the equipment and renting the space and studio. this service does it all for you! images of a bladerunner future flow through my mind while tucked away in a small studio apartment in one of those grim, gotham monolithic buildings a young musical prodigy scribbles on his notebook the notes to his budding symphony. later on, he would empty the contents of his creation into the hands of this service and almost magically he or she would get in return his musical dream fulfilled.
i didn't even know this was possible until i read just the opening lines of the website. check it out here
they offer free price quotes and have a simple and wonderful mission statement. they really would like all musicians without access to a live orchestra to have the opportunity to hear their music the way it was meant to be heard. they also want to promote the use of real instruments if they are accessible and don't want to attempt to pursuade people who have that access to use their service instead. sounds like this is the real deal and was most likely created by actual musicians to help other members of the musical community rather than a marketing ploy to take advantage of those musicians out there without the funds and connections that other musicians may have.
if you are a musician or know someone who is, i definitely hope that you will share this site with them!

pass it on!
