EQUALITY AND JUSTICE DAY IS
APRIL 28, 2009

Isn't your equality worth one day? Civil Rights Front will be teaming up with Empire State Pride Agenda for Equality & Justice Day. This is the one day of the year when hundreds of LGBT New Yorkers and our allies go to Albany to demonstrate the power of our community. E&J Day 2009 will be the most important yet, because now, for the first time ever, we have a pro-LGBT Majority in the State Senate!
The New York State Assembly has passed our community’s three most important bills: marriage equality, the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) and the Dignity for All Students Act. With an Assembly and a Governor now supporting these issues, we now must make sure that the State Senate takes up and passes these bills so that they can become law in 2009! Last year there were 1100 participants at E&J Day--now that we have a real chance to pass these bills this year, we’ll need an even bigger turnout!
While Empire State Pride Agenda is holding lobbying sessions with the senators, Civil Rights Front will be conducting several actions outside the capitol to show our strength, numbers, and support. If you would like to participate in these actions, please note that you are part of Civil Rights Front on your registration form.

EDUCATION + ORGANIZATION
+ LEGISLATION = CHANGE
The Civil Rights Front is an all inclusive, direct action group working towards marriage equality and full civil rights for the LGBTQ community. We believe true equality can be achieved by educating people about the challenges we face; organizing our community and allies; and encouraging our government to change discriminatory legislation. We hope to bring LGBTQ organizations, leaders, supporters, and community members together to ensure that a strong and unified voice is heard. We have a lot of work to do, and we can't do it alone.
