Tonight was I UNITY Fund's (the grassroots non-profit organization i have been talking a lot about that i am a core member of) fourth annual "Calling All Angels" toy drive and fundraiser. it was held at the skyline penthouse ballroom in hell's kitchen. the event benefited Jacobi Medical Center of the Bronx' Pediatric AIDS Services.
the night went off with nary a hitch. some inevitable sound problems and situations arose but were fixed immediately. i guess practice makes perfrect because me and friends seem to be getting better and better at throwing an event together at the last moment. some people work better that way. my friends eric and brian came to volunteer and my dear brother david came and filmed the event as a favour to me. clips of some of the performances will be available online very soon.
our gift bags were overstuffed with promotional cds and other products, filled to the rim with discount coupons, t-shirts and much much more. one of the items inside the bags was a cd compilation i made especially for the event. naturally for me, it was an "alternative" holiday collection perfect for tree trimming on a night where snowflakes entertain us from the other side of the windowpane featuring old folk classics reworked, some new gems and some other favourites of mine.
